BESKRIVNING

Mountain trip ski touring – cabin to cabin for women

There’s something special about waking up in a mountain cabin in winter. It’s still dark outside. The crackling of the fire is the only sound.
Someone is boling water for coffee, another is checking the weather forecast, and another is glad that their mittens are dry. Outside, a new day of skiing awaits.

On this tour we travel from cabin to cabin on touring skis for four days. We travel through the winter mountains in a small group, with our things on our backs or in a sled, with the next cabin as our goal. Sometimes the skiing is easy and rhythmic. Sometimes it’s windy, the snow is loose, or the slope requires more concentration. That’s exactly what mountaineering is: being with the weather, the landscape and the day just as it is.

The tour is for those who already have skiing experience and who are looking forward to several days in the winter mountains. You don’t need to know everything, but you should enjoy being outside, be able to take care of yourself during a long day and be curious about life between the mountain cabins.

We get help from the mountain to slow down. The days have a simple rhythm: eat a good breakfast, pack your sleeping bag and clothes in the morning, strap on your skis, find the day’s pace, stop for lunch and ski on to the next cabin. In the evenings we cook together, dry gloves, talk about the day and see what the weather has planned for tomorrow.

All food during the trip is included. Of course, based on local ingredients. It is planned, prepared and brought along, but we cook it together. Not because it should be complicated, but because it is part of the experience. Chopping vegetables in a warm cabin, stirring a pot while the snow blows outside and sitting down to the table when darkness falls is part of the experience. Mountain food should be simple, hearty and really tasty.

I guide the group through the days and share with them things that are part of the trip: route choice, pace, clothing, packing, snow, weather and skiing technique when needed. But above all, we do the trip together. We help each other, give each other time and create a mountain trip where there is room for both conversation, laughter and silence. Choose for yourself whether you want to go with a backpack or a sled. No sled? I can arrange that, just let me know in advance.

This is not a trip where everything has to be accomplished. It’s a trip to be out for several days in a row, feel the mountains under your skis, and come home with rosy cheeks, tired legs, and a feeling of having really done something.
